Two robbers were arrested after a smash and grab incident at the corner of Rissik and Junction streets in Germiston yesterday, Gauteng police said.

Captain Steady Nawa said a 28-year-old teacher had stopped at a robot at about 7am when a man, who had two accomplices, smashed the passenger window of her car.

"They took her handbag containing her wallet and cosmetics, and fled the scene."

A few minutes later the woman stopped a passing police vehicle, and the officers gave chase and arrested two of the men, while the third escaped.

They were found in possession of the woman's handbag but her wallet was missing, Nawa said.

The men, aged 18 and 25, will appear in the Germiston magistrate's court soon. - Sapa
