A LIMPOPO woman's dream of getting married was shattered when her husband-to-be died in a fatal accident.
Kedibone Wilhelmina Madiya was to marry Maropeng Henry Shai at Motjeteng village outside Tzaneen on Saturday, but instead she will be burying him.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Superintendent Abie Khoabane said Shai was driving with a colleague, Selby Mogopane, in a Nissan bakkie when the vehicle collided head-on with two oncoming vehicles at Ga-Mobididi near Bushbuckridge.
He said both Shai and Mogopane died on the spot.
T he two occupants of the sedan sustained serious injuries and were fighting for their lives in the Bushbuckridge Hospital.
Shai worked for the department of education as human resource practitioner in Bushbuckridge.
It took the couple seven months to arrange their wedding but all the preparations turned into tears.
"I received a call from the police that my husband to-be was no more," a tearful Madiya said. " I stood in the house for hours hoping it was just a bad dream.
"All I wanted was to marry him and stay with him him for the rest of my life.
"But now I' m left with nothing but loneliness, emptiness and fear.
"Could someone tell me what I have done to deserve this?"
The police are meanwhile investigating a case of culpable homicide.
