Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal, in partnership with Tourism KwaZulu-Natal, and Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre are on a joint trade and tourism promotion visit in Nigeria and Ghana. The trip ends on Saturday.
The tour is part of a greater strategy by the province to build strong trade links with sister countries on the continent and to work together to strengthen the African economy, said Donny Pethan.
Pethan is general manager of the export development and promotion unit, trade and investment, KwaZulu-Natal.
He said the objectives of the mission included increasing trade between KwaZulu-Natal and Nigeria and Ghana as well as increasing travel from Nigeria and Ghana to KwaZulu-Natal.
"We also want to showcase and increase awareness of the strengths of KwaZulu-Natal as a business and tourist destination and highlight Durban as a conference destination, with emphasis on the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre," he said.
The delegation will participate in business events, one-on-one meetings and site visits.
"We will be informing the biggest West African market about tourism, trade and investment opportunities emanating," Pethan said
Zamo Gwala, CEO of trade and investment KZN, believes the mission will assist in gathering market intelligence to inform the proposed mission to Nigeria and Ghana later this year.
