While the Khutsong issue was being resolved Shiceka was blaming Cope leader Mosioua Lekota, who was an ANC leader at the time, for the debacle.
The ANC, which has always said it has collective leadership, should now take collective responsibility for that. It is history that Shiceka was hauled over coals by the Cabinet for utterances over Khutsong.
He is doing it again after the unrest in some municipalities in North West and Mpumalanga.
Shiceka should do what is right and follow due process. It will not help residents in those areas if he lambastes the previous government for problems of service delivery. After all, that was an ANC government.
We wait with bated breath for the "big announcement" Shiceka will make about municipalities in North West.
That talkers are not good doers is gradually proving to be true because the ministers who do not criticise their predecessors progress quietly.
When the opposition raised issues of nepotism, failure to respond to queries, corruption and using office for self-enrichment by some in the ANC, Shiceka as chairperson of the committee that dealt with local government issues in the national council of provinces was among those with the loudest voices to accuse us of jealousy.
We, the opposition, can now say we have been vindicated. What we said has been proven correct. The government should make municipalities work.
