I WAS touched by Michael Jackson's death but the way local radio stations and other media went on about his death was too much.
Jackson's music was hardly ever played on radio but now they play his songs more than four times a day. And SABC even televised a documentary about him.
It seems that we promote and respect overseas artists more than our local musicians. Simon Nkabinde (Mahlathini) was poor when he died and he didn't get Jackson's treatment.
I have no problem with overseas music but why promote that more than local music? Robert Kelly was here recently and his music is played all the time. Will the SABC air documentaries when our musicians die?
