Mocke beat brother Jasper to take the men's singles honours with Australian Mark Anderson crossing the finish line in third place.
Victory in the women's race went to 21-year-old Tiffany Kruger of Amanzimtoti, who edged out stalwart Michelle Eder for her second win in four weeks.
Signalling the end of the 2009 Discovery Men's Health Surf Ski Series, a westerly breeze cleaned up conditions and surf ski paddlers enjoyed nearly perfect surf along the 46km route from Scottburgh to Brighton.
"It was a great race this year, with little of the difficulties and challenges we faced last year," said an elated David Mocke.
"It was pretty flat most of the way. The surf and swell was a little bigger at the halfway mark in Amanzimtoti and again at the end when we reached Brighton." This third triumph for Mocke, who runs a surf ski school with wife Nikki in Cape Town, comes after partnering his brother to victory in the doubles last year. He also won the singles title in 2006.
"In past races, the waves have been brutal at the start and finish," Mocke said.
The Mocke brothers set the pace initially and came in on the same wave at the halfway mark in Amanzimtoti. But David powered past Jasper on the homeward leg, taking advantage of the dead flat conditions to take victory.
"Now we have a welcome respite before preparing for the Dubai Shamaal Surf Ski race in November." Local favourite Kruger, who won the Umhlanga Pirates surf ski race at the end of June, was delighted with her performance.
Brothers Michael and Nigel Stevens combined to win the men's doubles, edging out Gavin Searle and Quinton Rutherford, with Brandon van der Walt and Chad Adams taking third.
