Cosatu leaders in KwaZulu-Natal have urged President Jacob Zuma not to forget the workers now that he is in power.

This was said by provincial deputy president Julius Sithole at the federation's provincial elective conference in Durban yesterday.

Referring to the spate of job losses, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal, Sithole said he hoped Zuma would not forget the workers in these trying times.

The conference ends today. Cosatu and its alliance partners - the ANC, SACP and Sanco - have also called for a united front to fight job losses in the province and the country.

More than 208000 people lost their jobs in the first quarter of the year, 117000, in KwaZulu-Natal.
