Fair call on 2 dissenters

COPE's Charlotte Lobe is absolutely right to say that Lynda Odendaal and Simon Grindrod should have raised their dissatisfaction within the party instead of making paediatric gripes beyond official policies and structures of the party.

COPE's Charlotte Lobe is absolutely right to say that Lynda Odendaal and Simon Grindrod should have raised their dissatisfaction within the party instead of making paediatric gripes beyond official policies and structures of the party.

The call is fair, given that both leaders are senior enough to know and understand due processes, no matter how stressful and difficult it is to swallow the pill.

Lobe's statement would have been even more relevant to former comrades Mbhazima Shilowa and Mosiuoa Lekota.

They, too, became big-headed and ran around to every media house in the country to excite enemies of the ruling party.

This hereditary norm among Cope's leadership is a true example of a severe paranoid disease.

It reminds me of the two blindfolded bullies who served "divorce papers" and cleverly hired a priest to window-dress their naive ambitions with "moral" intentions.

The guys thought it was easy, but recurrent developments prove that their Cope's teething problems were piling up before they could even change its first nappy.

Grindrod, Odendaal and others should rest assured that many of us have been mourning with them.

We know the unruly faces and motives of their self-appointed ex-masters.

We never lost hope for them because we knew their agony wouldn't last forever.

Decisions, marriages and structures born out of populist and self-righteous greed, anger and ill-informed egos will never hold on, not in South Africa.

You can ask the one-man projects like IFP, ID, UDM, the old apartheid NP and others: The ordinary people, the voters, will always put you in your rightful place.

Kagiso Sedumedi, Tshwane
