Dlamini made top boss at Old Mutual

KUSENI Dlamini, who resigned as head of Anglo American SA yesterday, has been appointed as the chief executive of Old Mutual SA.

KUSENI Dlamini, who resigned as head of Anglo American SA yesterday, has been appointed as the chief executive of Old Mutual SA.

Anglo said he had resigned "to take up a new opportunity outside the group" with which he has been associated for 13 years - at De Beers, AngloGold Ashanti and as chairman of Richard's Bay Coal Terminal.

Soon after Anglo's announcement, Old Mutual confirmed widespread speculation that Dlamini would succeed Paul Hanratty, who was promoted to head office as chief executive of the group's long-term savings division.

Old Mutual said Dlamini has "gained valuable management experience within large multinational organisations".

Dlamini will begin on September 1 and will report to Hanratty and will be responsible for Old Mutual's operations in SA and Africa. - Marcia Klein
