KAMPALA - Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, subject to an international arrest warrant for war crimes, has declined an invitation to attend a conference in Kampala this month, said a Ugandan official.
"The understanding is that he will not be coming," James Mugume, permanent secretary of the foreign affairs ministry, said yesterday.
The Sudanese envoy in Kampala had earlier indicated that Bashir was considering making the trip, which would have been his first to a country since the warrant was issued. - Sapa-AFP
