AMSTERDAM - Banyana Banyana stylishly completed their participation in the Four Nations Cup here last night, beating Switzerland 3-2 to finish in third position.

They had vowed before kickoff they would not return home empty-handed, and August Makalakalane's troops delivered. They were determined to atone for the first two losses.

The first attack went to the Swiss when Lara Dickenmann snuck a shot through in the third minute, which found goalkeeper Mukondi Mulaudzi equal to the task.

Swiss resistance came to an end in the 42nd minute when Mamphashe Popela scored the opening goal. The Swiss benefited from yet another dubious penalty decision soon after the beginning of the second half, and Dickenmann scored from the spot. That was before centre back Janine van Wyk released a scorcher in the 83rd minute to make it 3-1.

Switzerland pulled one back through Nicole Remund towards the end of the game.
