The struggle continues for Mzansi's poor

NELSON Mandela completed his long walk to freedom in 1994 and so did many South Africans.

Unfortunately, for many other communities the struggle continues. The people of areas such as Lehurutshe, especially of Dinokana, Ntsweletsoku, Khunotswane, Madutle and so on are still struggling and they are yet to enjoy the fruits of democracy. Are we going to suffer until Jesus comes?

Since the birth of the new democracy, we have not had proper services from the new government.

If you drive through these villages you will see young and old people pushing wheelbarrows to fetch water on very hot summer days as well as on cold mornings during winter.

Is this what people fought for?

Many areas are inaccessible because the roads have been washed away by floods. Everything is falling apart and no one says anything - as long as they receive their fat salaries at the end of the month.

There is absolutely no consultation and communication from the side of the local authorities and they do not keep the villagers and the residents updated on what the government intends to do to develop their areas.
