VETERAN lawyer George Bizos has quit the Judicial Service Commission.

VETERAN lawyer George Bizos has quit the Judicial Service Commission.

Bizos, pictured , had been a member of the commission since its inception in 1994. He was former president Nelson Mandela's defence counsel in the trial that landed him on Robben Island.

Bizos is joined in his departure from the commission by the only black female member Advocate Kgomotso Moroka, together with Advocate Seth Nthai. John Ernstzen has also left.

They are replaced by advocates Dumisa Ntsebeza, Ismael Semenya, Vas Soni and the chairperson of the Black Lawyers Association Andiswa Ndoni. - Dudu Busani
