Cope Youth Movement spokesperson Sipho Nghona said yesterday: "There is nothing in exposing the party to public scrutiny but he should at least have shown respect for the internal process."
The Cope Youth Movement also accused Grindrod of being dishonest by accusing the organisation's leadership of fraud and then remaining a member of such a party.
Grindrod has resigned as Cope's head of election and member of the national working committee.
Grindrod's resignation coincided with that of Cope second deputy president Linda Odendaal, who resigned on Monday.
Cope president Mosiuoa Lekota and first deputy Mbhazima Shilowa said yesterday they did not know why Odendaal resigned .
Odendaal told Talk Radio 702 host John Robbie in an interview yesterday that Shilowa was part of an "opportunistic" faction within Cope that was intent on ousting Lekota as party leader.
