FOUR hundred special edition Mandela Day bangles will go on sale next week to celebrate Nelson Mandela's 91st birthday.
Founder of the 46664 Bangle Initiative, Robert Coutt, said the limited edition bangle, to go on sale on July 18, will cost R1995. This is the same price as the silver 46664 bangles made last year to commemorate Mandela's 90th birthday.
A gala dinner is scheduled for New York next Wednesday and guests will include celebrities and politicians.
"Only 600 hundred bangles will be made for that special occasion. This to celebrate another year in the life of the world's most famous living icon," Coutt said.
Each bangle will be engraved with a unique serial number as well as the words "Mandela Day Edition '09".
Coutt called on the world to use Mandela Day as a reason to give back, while at the same time offering loved ones an extraordinary gift.
