LAST year the Afrikaans movie Bakgat enjoyed enormous success and its star performer was Cherié van der Merwe.
In Bakgat2, which Cherié is busy filming at the moment, the cast are now university students and their hilarious relationships are taken to a new level.
When she's not busy filming Van der Merwe loves to play the piano but her great passion is writing short stories. So, since she loves to write, we asked her to test some ballpoint pens.
"The Pilot pen produces an elegant fine, light script but I find the grip a little uncomfortable in my hand," says Cherié.
The trusty Bic now produces a gel ballpoint pen with ink that flows beautifully.
Cherié thinks that its better for drawing than writing.
The Papermate has a retractable spring-loaded nib that can be clicked out with the thumb. "It has good grip but feels too thin in my hand."
The Staedtler Condor 424 is a retractable pen in bright yellow with a black top. Cherié thought that the pen was too light and seemed cheaply made.
"It has no substance. It would be a good pen for signing a cheque."
Lastly, Cherié tried the Parker - with metal components. "This is the kind of pen that you'd take more care of. It's the one that definitely gets my vote."
