Woods and Fed on a roll

BETHESDA, Maryland - Shortly after Roger Federer won his record 15th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, Tiger Woods sent the Swiss a congratulatory text message.

"I think it was 14-all when we were all on the putting green, and then I went to the range and I heard that he had held and then he broke to win," Woods said on Sunday.

Woods sent a simple message, which read "great job. Now it's my turn", before he teed off. The American then went on to win the AT&T National tournament he hosts, by a stroke.

Woods said he and good friend Federer occasionally prod each other along with competitive banter in text messages.

Last month, Federer won his first French Open, while Woods won the Memorial Tournament. "He won the French and I won Memorial, so it was kind of let's do it on the same day," Woods said.

"His [wins] are a hell of a lot bigger than mine, though. He won two slams and I won two tour events. Hopefully I can get the majors now." - Reuters
