FIVE men were caught with 90 stolen debit and credit cards they allegedly used to withdraw money from ATMs in Ritavi, Limpopo, police said yesterday .

The five men, arrested on Saturday night, formed part of a syndicate that allegedly tampered with ATMs in a bid to trap people's cards and retrieve them later, Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said.

Once they had retrieved them the men allegedly used a hand-held "skimming device" to acquire information from the cards and withdraw money.

They also had store cards they had used to buy clothes on credit from retailers in Limpopo, in particular around Ritavi and Tzaneen.

The five, aged between 22 and 51, are expected to appear in the Ritavi magistrate's court tomorrow. - Sapa.
