THE ANC government wants to create a single body public service. Not a good idea.
People living in Gauteng have already seen the effects of one body directing all provincial services, namely the Gauteng Shared Services Centre.
During its very short life hospitals have been forced to go vegetarian, teachers haven't been paid for months and people phone us daily to complain about trying to get a booking for a driver's licence. And these are just the notable incidents.
If this is how a central civil service acts at provincial level you can keep the national one. I don't want to be involved. The not-so-civil service is hiccupping along so do we really need to choke it by centralisation? Devolve power and open the throttle on delivery.
