Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said the boy died early in the morning after being rushed to the hospital on Tuesday evening.
The circumcision, also involving six other boys, took place in the Kaplan area near Mthatha.
Some of boys were also taken to hospital but were in a stable condition. The man responsible had fled after the first boy was taken to the hospital. - Sapa
