WITH the Confederations Cup now over, Bafana Bafana will soon be back in action for an international friendly against Serbia on South African soil.

South African Football Association's chief executive Raymond Hack said the match will take place on August 12 at a venue still to be announced.

"It will be a big game, Serbia have been doing well in the qualifying rounds for the 2010 World Cup where they are leading their group," he said.

"The fact that Serbia are above 1998 World Cup champions France on the log in Group 7 of the European qualifiers tells you that they are one of the strongest teams.

"We are delighted to get a game against Serbia, it is also in line with Safa's commitment to get strong teams for Bafana Bafana in the build-up to the 2010 World Cup.

"Our aim is to ensure Bafana Bafana play against the best in world.

"Serbia look set to come here for the 2010 World Cup as they are doing incredibly well in their group.

"The Bafana Bafana players were informed about the game against Serbia by team manager Sipho Nkumane at the weekend, everybody is looking forward to it."

Bernard Parker, Bafana Bafana's golden striker, plays in Serbia for Red Star Belgrade.

As for the venue, Hack said: "We are still in discussions with various municipalities who are interested in hosting the game on August 12."

But the match looks set to be played in Gauteng.

After the game against Serbia, Bafana Bafana will be off to Germany in September for an international against the hosts of the 2006 World Cup.

Subsequent to that, Bafana Bafana are away to Norway and Iceland on October 10 and 14, respectively.

In November, Bafana Bafana will play two games in South Africa against as yet unnamed opposition.
