Joyi made the bold declaration on Friday night, minutes after earning the right to challenge IBF mini flyweight holder Raul "Royito" Garcia early next year.
The list of fighters who recently failed to win world titles after much promise include Mzonke Fana, Silence Mabuza, Takalani Ndlovu, Moruti Mthalane and Ali Funeka.
"I will win the title from Raul Garcia," said Joyi, after outclassing Florante "Little Pacquiao" Condes of the Philippines over 12 rounds at the Orient Theatre.
"I rate Condes highly, even more so than Garcia. I have seen tapes of Garcia. His biggest strength is his speed. I will knock him out - period."
Memories of November 10 1983 when Marvin "The Marvelous" Hagler conquered Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran for the WBC, WBA and IBF middleweight belts after 15 rounds at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, came flooding back as the battle between Joyi and Condes unfolded.
Joyi is a left-hander like Hagler. He wore navy blue shots and boots. Hagler wore the same colours. Joyi, just like Hagler, was very aggressive and threw crisp punches throughout and, like Hagler, he dictated terms during the fight.
Condes was just as tough as Duran. He lost the fight from the sixth round because Joyi forced him to fight on the back foot.
There was one knockdown in the 12th and final round. The fight was, however marred by a few stoppages caused by accidental headbutts and low blows.
"My hands are very sore", confessed Joyi as he struggled to undress himself in the change room. "I hit this guy so hard but he is like an ox."
Joyi's promoter Branco Milenkovic was presented with an IBF plaque before the Joyi fight. IBF governor, Louis Priluker, who supervised the fight, said the New Jersey-based boxing organisation had voted Milenkovic as its best promoter for 2008.
