One such player is Etienne Hiver Massoye, a 24-year-old former Mbabane Swallows striker who rattled the net 18 times in as many games last season.
The player from Swaziland has signed a two-year contract with the Dube Birds.
Speaking after their training session in Germiston yesterday, the soft-spoken Massoye said: "I don't like making promises and saying how many goals I will score. But what I do know is that I hope to do my best for Swallows and achieve success for the team while making a name for myself.
"I know Swallows is a big team and when I spoke to the chairman he told me about the club's ambition to win the league. He said he would assemble the best players to achieve that goal."
Massoye said besides the cold weather he was warmly welcomed by very friendly players.
"They are from vacation but you could see the determination to work hard in their faces," said Massoye.
The Nedbank Cup champions were also looking forward to welcoming former Bafana Bafana, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker Siyabonga "Bhele" Nomvethe to the nest. The speedy forward is expected to join the rest of the squad on Monday.
The Birds are also set to move their aviary from their Ekuhruleni base back to Soweto where they are looking to make the revamped Dobsonville stadium a permanent home with offices and an academy making up its headquarters.
After the departure of Brazilian coach Julio Leal, the team trained under the watchful eyes of Eddie Lewis and Zeca "Lollipop" Marques who, according to chairman Leon Prins, are a "very capable" technical team, which also comprises Shadrack Biemba and Dennis Lota.
"We still have to interview the other coaches who have applied for the job. But, having said that, I have full confidence in these guys," said Prins.
Among the new faces at training was the relegated Thanda Royal Zulu's midfielder, July Mahlangu.
Prins said Swallows would unveil their new technical sponsor, Puma before the season opener in August. The deal is over five years and is said to be the best yet locally, though figures were not given. Three top Nigerian players are also expected at the Birds nest before the weekend.
