A 64-year-old Limpopo woman without an ID has reiterated ANC Youth League president Julius Malema's call that lazy ward councillors and community development workers should be fired.

Mokwape Anna Mmola of Marirone village in the Bolobedu South area of Tzaneen has accused councillor, Rylina Maunatlala and the area's community development worker, Ephodia Malatji. of not having the interest of the poor at heart.

Mmola said she had lived all her life in misery in front of those employed by the government to help people like her.

"They all watched with interest and smiled when my family and I lived the life of beggars," Mmola said. "I always had to beg for food and money from my neighbours to put bread on my family's table.

"This is not all. We have to expose them and make sure the world knows them," she said.

Mmola said she had lived all her life in an dilapidated old house in the village without enough food because Maunatlala and Malatji had not seen anything wrong with her not having an ID for the past 40 years.

Mmola breathed a sigh of relief when the South African Social Security Agency and Home Affairs helped her apply for a new ID, child support grant and old age grant on Friday. But Maunatlala said she was not aware of Mmola's problems and claimed she would have acted the minute she knew about them.

Malatji said Mmola was not known in the village since she went off to get married somewhere else and only returned to the village after the death of her mother in 2007.
