OVER the past couple of months one of the wonders of the world, the Robben Island Museum, has been plagued by a number of problems.

Thanks to a lot of behind the scenes work, it looks as if a solution has finally been found.

The solution comes in the person of newly appointed Vusithemba Ndima. He was acting deputy director-general of cultural heritage in the Department of Arts and Culture. He will act as interim CEO of the Robben Island Museum.

Minister of Arts and Culture Lulu Xingwana has given Ndima full powers. He has been tasked to bring greater stability to the day-to-day running of the museum.

The fact hat he started work immediately is an indication that the minister is confident that his appointment will ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations at the museum.

The Iziko Museum Council has meanwhile agreed to allow their CEO, Henry Bredekamp, to take over as interim CEO of the museum after Ndima's tenure.

Bredekamp also has a wealth of experience in the sector.
