Men posing as healers sought after woman drowns in dam

KWAZULU-NATAL police have launched a manhunt for two men who posed as traditional healers before allegedly drowning a woman in a dam.

KWAZULU-NATAL police have launched a manhunt for two men who posed as traditional healers before allegedly drowning a woman in a dam.

Superintendent Henry Budhram said Banothile Dlamini, 36, was killed by two men who pretended to be traditional healers. Budhram said the men who killed Dlamini had allegedly been hired by her mother.

"It is alleged that on June 8 Dlamini's mother and an acquaintance picked her up outside Spar and drove with her to Sinathing under the pretence that they were taking her to see a healer," Budhram said.

Two men were picked up at a house in the Sinathing area, he said.

"All five drove to Henley Dam. On arrival at the dam Dlamini was told to lie on the ground. The 'healers' ripped off her jersey and tied it over her mouth."

Police believe Dlamini was then forced into the dam by two men. The acquaintance and Dlamini's mother were arrested.

"The motive appears to be a lover's triangle involving the victim, the 25-year-old acquaintance and a boyfriend," Budhram said. - Sapa
