WORLD soccer champions, Azzuri of Italy, will tomorrow celebrate Youth Day with the community of Mabopane, north of Pretoria, and surrounding areas.

The Italians, who are making their debut in the Confederations Cup, will conduct coaching clinics.

"We are thrilled Italy will be in Mabopane on Youth Day, a big day in the history of South African politics," said Godfrey Nkwane, Tshwane's 2010 World Cup chief executive officer.

"They will conduct clinics for the youngsters from Mabopane, Ga-Rankuwa, Winterveldt and have a session with the amateur coaches.

"For us their presence in Mabopane is one of the legacy projects for the 2010 World Cup. We are working hard to ensure that the countries taking part in this tournament are accessible to our communities in Tshwane.

"We had two games in Atteridgeville last week where Italy played against New Zealand and a Tshwane Invitation, they were a roaring success in terms of attendance."

Italy start their Confederations Cup campaign against United States of America at Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 8pm tonight.
