LIMPOPO football enthusiasts will get their first taste of the Vodacom Challenge tournament when Orlando Pirates take on Manchester City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on July 18.

The province will host the opening fixture of the 10th anniversary of this annual off-season event, featuring local giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates and a team from overseas.

The match is expected to quench the local fans's thirst for professional soccer after they spent a season without action following the relegation of Black Leopards.

Judged by the support national sports events have been getting at Peter Mokaba Stadium, the organisers had to bring another big event to the province.

Business executive Sizwe Nzimande is sure Limpopo fans will come in mumbers. p

Other Challenge matches will feature Chiefs against City at Absa Stadium in Durban on July 21, AmaKhosi against Pirates in Port Elizabeth on July 23.

The final is played between between the winner of the derby and City at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane on July 25.

In KwaZulu-Natal ticket prices are R350 for suite, R150 for main grandstand reserved, R100 for north and south stands reserved, R75 for east stand lower reserved and R45 for east stand upper unreserved.

In Port Elizabeth supporters will pay R45 for tickets. In Tshwane supporters will pay R350 for suite tickets, R150 for main grandstand, reserved, R100 for north and south stands reserved, R75 for east lower stand reserved.
