GAUTENG Premier Nomvula Mokonyane has assured residents about the province's readiness for hosting the Fifa Confederations Cup.
"Our preparedness to stage this event is beyond any doubt. Roads, transport, stadiums, hotels and bed and breakfast facilities have been improved to acceptable international standards," Mokonyane said during her state of the province address in Kliptown, Soweto, yesterday.
She said the province had been presented with an opportunity to display to the world that indeed South Africans were warm and welcoming people.
"It is a chance of a lifetime. We must all throw our lot behind this prestigious tournament," Mokonyane said.
She wished Bafana Bafana the best of luck and urged the people of Gauteng to go out in large numbers to support the local team.
