The seaside village of Port Shepstone on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast will come alive again as music lovers descend on Marburg Sports Grounds for the third annual Ugu Jazz Festival on June 27.

An awesome line-up has been put together for patrons to be entertained until early hours of the morning.

Leading the pack is Lira, this year's SA Music Awards multiple-award winner, with four Samas to her name in total.

The sassy singer takes the stage makes a welcome return to the show, this after her excellent performance following the release of her latest award-wining album, Soul in Mind.

Other South Africa's top performing Afro-jazz maestros to appear are the internationally acclaimed Caiphus Semenya, Selaelo Selota, kwaai-jazz master Dona Laka, Ringo Madlingozi and Siphokazi. Andile Mseleku, Bongi Dube, Ntokozo Masinga and a host of other talented local artists will also feature.

DJs Siyanda and Muntu will walk the thousands of fans expected at this year's event down memory lane, on the ones and twos, playing hits from yesteryear.

Positioned as a family event, the festival takes place during the warm South Coast winter and patrons are free to bring along their camping gear, braai equipment and drinks.

Event organiser, Mdu Ngcobo of Touch Africa, said the municipality has also positioned the event within the build up to the Confederations Cup, starting this Sunday.

"Ugu is one of the four districts in the province to host official public viewing areas, with the support of the provincial government.

"To this end, the final of the Confederations Cup will broadcast live on big screens, the day after the music extravaganza," he said. The municipality has urged patrons to book their accommodation early.

On the same weekend, the area will be abuzz with other activities, from the Margate Airshow to the Sardine Beach Tour.

Enquires for accommodation can be made at the Port Shepstone or Margate tourism offices on 039  682  2455 or 039 312  2322.
