AFRO-POP sensation Theo Kgosinkwe has bagged another symbol of honour.

AFRO-POP sensation Theo Kgosinkwe has bagged another symbol of honour.

The member of the Mafikizolo duo was bestowed with the Mogale City ambassadorship at the launch of his solo album on Saturday.

This means that Kgosinkwe is now the face of this West Rand municipality. He joins other celebrities such as DJ Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, who is the 2010 World Cup ambassador of Ekurhuleni.

"This is a big title. I am truly honoured that the people of Mogale City are proud of my contribution," said Kgosinkwe who grew up in Kagiso township.

He later gave a sizzling performance at the Silverstar Casino just outside Krugersdorp. The cherry on top was him performing his hit song Ndihambela Phezulu, with Jaziel Brothers.

The duo produced the song for Kgosinkwe's album. His new solo album, I am, won the Best African Pop album at this year's South African Music Awards.

The municipality also conferred awards on young people in the area for their efforts in uplifting their communities.

Mogale City spokesperson Nkosana Zali said they had a list of young people they wanted as ambassadors.

"We thought Kgosinkwe was the best choice as he is also involved in community work in Mogale City."
