A WOMAN briefly appeared before the Mhala magistrate's court near Bushbuckridge yesterday on charges of kidnapping a four-month-old baby who was found two weeks after he was stolen.
Teleni Mnisi, 24, was not asked to plead and was warned to return to court next Monday but was remanded in custody pending her appearance then.
She allegedly stole the baby from the grandmother before disappearing to Soshanguve in Gauteng.
Police had to apply for permission to track Mnisi's cellphone after which they managed to arrest her in Soshanguve.
The child's mother, Tinyiko Mabode, told Sowetan afterwards that she would be happy if Mnisi was sentenced to at least 15 years in jail.
