A WOMAN appeared briefly before the Mhala magistrate's court near Bushbuckridge yesterday on charged with the kidnapping a four-month-old baby. The infant was found about two weeks after he was stolen.
Teleni Mnisi, 24, was not asked to plead and was warned to return to court next Monday.
She was remanded in custody pending her appearance.
Mnisi allegedly stole the baby from its grandmother before disappearing to Soshanguve in Gauteng.
Police had to apply for permission to track Mnisi's cellphone after which they managed to arrest her in Soshanguve.
The child's mother, Tinyiko Mabode, told Sowetan afterwards that she would be happy if Mnisi was sentenced to at least 15 years in jail.
"The trauma that I went through is unimaginable and I cannot forgive this woman."
