MAJIMBOS are off to neighbouring Windhoek, Namibia, on Thursday for an international friendly match against the junior Brave Warriors.
"We are playing Namibia on Saturday and the match forms part of our preparations for the Cosafa Under-17 Cup in Swaziland in July," said coach Solly Luvhengo.
It will be Luvhengo's first task as permanent coach of the national U-17 side after acting in that position for three months since Teboho Moloi's contract expired.
The knowledgeable Luvhengo has worked as an assistant coach of Majimbos for almost 10 years, serving under Serame Letsoaka and Moloi.
"I would like to thank the association for the confidence they have shown in my coaching ability, I will work with other development coaches," said Luvhengo.
When he was still caretaker coach, Luvhengo, who is also the U-15 coach of SuperSport-Feyenoord Academy, won two international competitions - the Human Right International Cup in Sedibeng in March and Botswana Four Nations Cup in Gaborone last month.
"Our preparations for the Cosafa U-17 Cup are going well as we also used the Nike Premier Manchester United tournament over the weekend to scout for new players," he said.
Namibia are still celebrating after beating the Westphalia U-17 team 1-0 in Germany last Tuesday in their preparations for the tournament in Swaziland.
"I have been informed that Namibia have assembled a good side, hence we have agreed to play them," added Luvhengo.
