THOUGH Carara Kicks hope to retain all their key players, they will also go to the market for reinforcements after failing to earn promotion to the Absa Premiership through the off-season National First Division playoffs.

Kicks played in the first playoff matches against Jomo Cosmos after both sides finished top in their respective streams.

Cosmos won the automatic promotion to the top flight and Kicks had to play in the four-team playoffs that also featured Mpumalanga Black Aces, Thanda Royal Zulu and FC Cape Town.

Like Kicks, FC Cape Town also failed to win promotion in the playoffs.

Basil Mohalane, Kicks' manager, said yesterday they will not sign players for the sake of it. He said they will recruit players worth their salt.
