THE hunt is on for Telkom Educator of the Year Awards for the best maths, science and technology teachers.
Launched under the auspices of the Telkom Foundation, Telkom's corporate social responsibility arm, the awards seek to replenish South Africa's reservoir of skills by bolstering maths, science and technology proficiency at all levels.
Six teachers - three each from primary and secondary school levels - stand to win laptops and R15000 cash for winning in the maths, science or technology categories, and, of course, the prestige of being among South Africa's best teachers of technical subjects.
A seventh category is for retired teachers. The winner in this category will receive a laptop and R20000 cash.
