Choice decried

Spare a thought for Women, Children and People with Disabilities Minister Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya. She has not yet warmed her seat but she must be starting to feel unloved.

Spare a thought for Women, Children and People with Disabilities Minister Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya. She has not yet warmed her seat but she must be starting to feel unloved.

Hardly had she been named political head of that ministry than the rumbling among some of the constituencies under her watch began.

Some women's organisations felt let down now that their issues will no longer be housed in the Presidency but will have a new ministry of their own. These organisations argued, among other things, that women's ministries had not succeeded in other countries.

The ANCYL has also expressed unhappiness that issues affecting young people will have to go to Mayende-Msibi.

Maybe President Jacob Zuma should make Mayende-Sibiya a minister in the Presidency and the youth and women's organisations will be happier.
