LONDON - Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has been released by Sunderland, the Premier League club said yesterday.

Trinidad & Tobago international Yorke, 37, started just four league games last season.

Yorke was one of seven players who will not be offered new contracts by the club which narrowly avoided relegation.

Defenders Calum Davenport and Tal Ben Haim will also return to West Ham United and Manchester City respectively after their loan deals ended. - Reuters
