Superintendent Abie Khoabane said: "The girl said she was walking in the street at about 8pm on Sunday when the man, known to her, threatened her with a knife, dragged her to his house and raped her.
"The girl told her parents, who reported to police.
"A doctor confirmed there had been penetration," Khoabane said.
The alleged rapist was arrested on Monday and will appear in the KwaMhlanga magistrate's court soon.
"We would like to advise girls to refrain from walking around at night and for parents to stop sending their daughters to shops at night because it is not safe," Khoabane said. - Sapa
