Promoter S'Phatho Handi admits that his failure to meet certain requirements of the IBF has forced the world boxing body to seize the promotional rights of the IBF mini-flyweight title eliminator from him.

Handi's fighter, IBO champion Nkosinathi "Mabhere" Joyi, was to fight Filipino Florante Condes in Handi's Mamali Promotions bill at the Orient Theatre in East London on June 12.

But the promotional rights will now be earned in a purse bid in New Jersey, the headquarters of this sanctioning body, on June 2.

"Yes, it is true," said Handi. "I am not a licensed promoter with the IBF. That is why I am sitting here in Gauteng now with promoter Branco Milenkovic. This is how serious I take this boxing business.

"Branco is a licensed promoter with the IBF. I want to be part of the bid to stage the eliminator between Joyi and Condes through Branco."

On that day, Milenkovic will be bidding for the rights to stage the fight for the vacant IBF welterweight title between Isaac "Angel" Hlatswayo and American Delvin "The Devil" Rodriguez.
