Lectures came to a halt at the Mopani FET College in Namakgale, outside Phalaborwa, when students destroyed property in protest against lack of learning and teaching equipment.
The students yesterday blockaded roads leading to the college with rocks before smashing window panes and throwing stones at passing cars.
Police fired rubber bullets at students but no one was injured.
The students were protesting against the lack of books in the college library for reference purposes.
A student representative, Kgomotjo Maimela, said: "We have given management until the end of this week to address our demands or face another protest.
"We do not embark on this action for fun, but we do so because our future is threatened," she said.
She claimed bursary allocations were not done in a transparent manner and that the SRC was not granted its own budget.
"We also find it difficult to cope with our classes when lecturers continue to leave the institution.
"We recommend that the college council secure jobs for the lecturers and pay them better salaries," Maimela said.
Namakgale police spokesperson Constable Lucy Sekgotodi said no one was arrested.
The college's chief executive Charity Sehlake said they were still assessing the damage.
She said management would meet today to discuss their demands.
