"Tanzania is a strong partner in sub-Saharan Africa, and the two leaders will meet to discuss a wide range of regional and bilateral issues," White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs said.
"President Obama looks forward to working closely with president Kikwete to tackle shared challenges, including the global financial crisis and its impact on sub-Saharan Africa," Gibbs said.
The newly elected president, who traces part of his ancestry to Kenya, will also concentrate on sub-Saharan Africa during a stop in Ghana in July, but has not yet fleshed out his administration's policy towards the continent in detail. - Sapa-AFP
