A 32-year-old woman from Mzingazi, near Empangeni, is still looking for her daughter who went "missing" in December last year.

Gabisile Nompilo Mnyandu says that her child, Thandazile Happiness Mnyandu, 11, was snatched by her father - a Tanzanian national.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday the distraught mother appealed to anyone who can help to inform the police.

She said Thandazile was last seen when her father, Adam Abdul, fetched her from her home in December, saying he was going to buy her school uniform.

Mnyandu said Abdul brought the uniform, but not the child.

"I have been battling to get hold of him. The people he had been renting a room from also can't get hold of him. I wish he would phone and tell me that my child is alive," she said.

Eshowe police spokesperson Captain Tinkie van Vuuren said the police had tried everything to locate the girl or her father, but to no avail.
