And they have the good news they may well take the field at Twickenham next Saturday and Sunday with their full originally selected squad.
"Hopefully we'll know by Monday (today) whether the passport problems of Renfred (Dazel) have been sorted out," said coach Paul Treu on the morning of their departure.
"That will mean we will be able to play him, Mzwandile Stick, Robert Ebersohn and Ryno Benjamin as a unit when needed. It is an exciting prospect."
Dazel, one of the most experienced players in the Bok squad, will be missed if his passport in the first instance and his visa problems cannot be resolved in time. He was one of the 2008/09 IRB Series' best players.
Treu added Paul Delport has fully recovered from his knee injury and will travel with the team.
There are no other niggles in the camp in a season where injuries did not affect the Boks as much as in previous years because of the careful selection of depth by Treu.
That, in Treu's book, is to try and win both tournaments, in London next weekend and in Edinburgh the next.
With three of the six tournaments in the series of eight won, the Boks have a healthy 28-point lead in the IRB Series.
A place in one quarterfinal and another in a semifinal will ensure they win the IRB Series for the first time - but perfectionist Treu has his sights set much higher.
