Maritzburg United coach Gordon Igesund has expressed his desire to hold on to players who were loaned out to the Pietermaritzburg club for the new season.
The decorated mentor told Sowetan that the players form part of his plans for the 2009-10 Absa Premiership season.
The players are midfielders Tony Tsabedze and Sam Ndlovu who are due to return to the Premiership champions SuperSport United.
Others are defender Gary Goldstone from Bloemfontein Celtic and Fanyana Dhladhla of Mamelodi Sundowns.
"These players strongly form part of my future plans and I will love to have them. I will negotiate with their respective teams to see if we can be able to extend their stay in the team," said Igesund.
"They have been an integral part of the team last season and I think they will play a significant role for us in the new season. We don't want to find ourselves embroiled in a relegation battle like in the past season."
Igesund, who joined United at the beginning of last season, has a season left in his contract. He said their main objective for the new season was to secure a top-eight finish.
"If we continue to put in enough efforts in our game anything can happen," he said.
He is the only local coach who boasts an unparalleled record of winning the championship with four different teams.
United finished 12th on the log on 36 points after a frustrating season where they spent the better part of their campaign in a relegation dogfight.
Players like Fadlu Davids, their leading goal scorer, Brice Aka, Lynch Pule, Elias Ngwepe, Dikulu Bageta and John Arwuah, are some of the key players the side's management must keep to ensure they compete for silverware next season.
