Inspired by the success of Jomo Cosmos after one season in the National First Division, Safa Nelson Mandela Bay region also believe Bay United can emulate Ezenkosi.

Following an article in Sowetan yesterday stating that Umlilo top brass are contemplating selling the club, Johnson Kula, Safa Nelson Mandela Bay regional president, pleaded with United owners Izingwe Holdings, not to do so.

In the story, United's boss Sipho Pityana said he received four offers from people keen to buy the club, who were relegated in the past season.

Kula said they would be approaching Minister of Sport and Recreation Makhenkesi Stofile and the Nelson Mandela Municipality to discuss the reported sale of United.

"Just like the Bay United board of directors, Safa in the Nelson Mandela region also believes that Bay United can bounce back and return to the Premier League."

He said selling the club would have disastrous consequences for soccer in the province.
