It's pay-back time now for President Zuma

The nation should not be surprised by Baleka Mbete's behaviour. Though implicated in a fraudulent driver's licence, she was never charged because she is ANC and, therefore, above the law.

People think they are entitled to senior positions because they supported Jacob Zuma and opposed and criticised Thabo Mbeki. Zuma is being compromised and manipulated by senior ANC people, including Sbusiso Ndebele, Jeff Radebe, Ngoako Ramathlodi, Malusi Gigaba, Ruth Bhengu and others.

The entitlement was cultivated by a patronage system of idolising the patron. Mbete and Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge are entitlement victims.

The tripartite alliance took a decision to have full-time secretaries, but Zuma backers Senzo Mchunu and Blade Nzimande felt entitled to be MEC and minister respectively.

It is in this context that Zuma expanded his Cabinet. Had Mbeki done this, the Zuma faction would have made a loud noise.

Why was the SACP, Cosatu and the YCL silent on Mbete and Madlala-Routledge? Are they not the careerists Mbeki spoke about at Polokwane? I do not blame Roy Moodley for wanting to sit nearer Zuma at the inauguration. His lavish party for Nxamalala made him feel entitled to such a privilege.

The Zuma faction sowed the seeds of entitlement at Polokwane and now the chickens are coming home to roost.
