When South Africa was bidding to host the 2010 World Cup they stated loud and clear it would be Africa's tournament.
The country is living up to its promise and several countries in Southern Africa are now on board to provide accommodation for the tournament.
More than 500000 tourists are expected to be in South Africa for the tournament.
Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island which is well known as a tourist destination globally, is the latest country in the region to sign up as an accommodation provider.
Other countries that have already signed up with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Match, Fifa's accommodation agency, include Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Swaziland.
Speaking at the 2009 Tourism Indaba in Durban yesterday, Mauritius' Xavier Luc Duval, vice prime minister and minister of tourism, said they were happy to contribute to the success of the 2010 World Cup.
"The excellent quality of our accommodation, our picturesque environment and wonderful beaches, together with the warm hospitality of the Mauritian people, will give an added experience to the fans."
Danny Jordaan, LOC chief executive, said: "Mauritius' signing up with the squad further underlines the strong commitment by the entire Southern African region for the 2010 Fifa World Cup."
