A man covered his head with a blanket and pretended to be sleeping while two men allegedly raped a woman in the same bed .
The woman, who the alleged rapists claim is a prostitute and had consented to intercourse in exchange for money, was sleeping with Kgomotso Mathekga when the men broke into the house.
Mathekga told the South Gauteng high court he heard the door being kicked open and people talking in the room. He said the men, who thought he was a woman, referred to him as "sweetheart" and were shocked to realise he was a man.
During cross-examination by defence counsel Advocate Sibusiso Mbatha, Mathekga denied claims by one of the accused that the victim was a prostitute.
The men then took her outside the house in Tembisa where she was raped by a gang in 2005. The accused are Bongani Nhlapho, Sello Mohlala, Thabiso Thukwane, Oupa Mohlala, Moeketsi Mphuthi, Kabelo Mwale and Mojalefa Seleka.
