Notable absentees were former MECs as well as all the MPLs, including those MPLs from smaller parties.
Ike Kekana, leader of the New Vision Party, failed to make the grade both at national and provincial level.
Of the 49 seats available in the provincial legislature, four belong to Cope and two went to the DA. The rest, as expected, were taken by the ANC.
A few of the MECs will be heading to the National Assembly after making it onto the ANC national executive committee list during the party's national conference in Polokwane in 2007.
Among those who did not make it in Lebowakgomo yesterday are former health and social development MEC Seaparo Sekoati, public works MEC Machwene Semenya and safety, security and liaison MEC Ratshivhanda Ndou.
It is not yet known where their political futures lie.
Premier Cassel Mathale retained only three MECs in his cabinet, two of whom retained their portfolios.
The other seven are new kids on the block, who will need the support of their colleagues to perform up to expected standards.
The new MECs are Dickson Masemola for education, Miriam Segabutla for health and social development, Pitsi Moloto for economic development, environment and tourism, Pandelani Ramagoma for public works, Soviet Lekganyane for local government and housing, Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba for agriculture and Pinkie Kekana for road and transport.
